Tenure-Track Faculty Positions
The Department of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology is seeking applicants for TENURE-TRACK FACULTY POSITIONS at any rank. This search continues a vigorous expansion of the Department over the last few years. Indiana University School of Medicine offers a highly collaborative scientific environment with many multidisciplinary centers and state-of-the-art core facilities including transgenic, in vivo and in vitro imaging, genomic, proteomic, and chemical genomics (http://www.medicine.iu.edu/research). We seek candidates with research interests that complement and strengthen research activities in the department, or bring novel approaches and expertise in areas including signaling mechanisms, systems biology, proteomics/genomics, bioinformatics, microRNA-mediated processes, epigenetics, stem cells, and genetic/disease model systems. Successful applicants are expected to develop a strong, independent extramurally funded research program and participate in graduate and medical student teaching. A highly competitive salary, start-up funds and laboratory space will be provided. Applicants must have a Ph.D., M.D. or equivalent degree, post-doctoral experience, and clear evidence of research productivity. Post-Doctoral Position
A postdoctoral position is available in the Department of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology at Indiana University School of Medicine to study diabetes and metabolic syndrome. Experience with molecular biology, biochemistry, and mouse models preferred. The applicant must be highly self-motivated and demonstrate an excellent record of scientific achievements.

Post-Doctoral Position
A POSTDOCTORAL RESEARCH POSITION is available to study cellular and molecular mechanisms of the development of pulmonary emphysema focused on the role of cellular autophagy in pulmonary emphysema and sphingolipid modulation of chronic lung injury. The applicant will join the laboratory of Irina Petrache, M.D., which is one of many highly interactive groups located in the Center for Immunobiology at the Indiana University School of Medicine. Applicants should have a strong background in cellular and molecular biology and signaling mechanisms. Experience in mammalian tissue culture and animal models is desired. U.S. citizenship or permanent residency required. The position is NIH funded. Expertise in translational studies is highly desirable.

Research Associate Position 
A Research Associate position is available in the Department of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology at Indiana University School of Medicine.   The position requires a Ph.D. degree in organic chemistry, and a strong background in organic synthesis, heterocyclic chemistry, phosphorous/fluorine chemistry, and natural products synthesis.
Proficient in modern and classical analytical techniques, including NMR, HPLC, LC-MS and other spectral analyses (IR, UV, EA etc.) is desirable. Experience in making and purifying small, polar organic molecules is also strongly desired. The ideal candidate will also have familiarity with medicinal chemistry and biochemistry. A high level of independence and a strong commitment to safe laboratory practices are expected. A minimum of three years of post-doctoral research experience in combinatorial and parallel library synthesis is preferred.

Post-Doctoral Position
A NIH funded postdoctoral position is available to study chemotherapy induced DNA damage and repair in the laboratory of Dr. John Turchi at the Indiana University School of Medicine in Indianapolis.  We are seeking an energetic, highly motivated individual with experience in analytical technologies and assay development.   The ideal candidate will have excellent written and oral communication skills and the desire to work as part of a highly interactive research group.  A Ph.D  or MD/Ph.D. degree in Biochemistry, Chemistry, or Molecular Biology is preferred.

Assistant or Associate Research Professor Position
An Assistant or Associate Research Professor position is available in the Department of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology at Indiana University School of Medicine in the lab of Dr. Hua Lu.  This position is for a nearly independent scientist who has a Ph.D. or M.D. degree with over six years of lab research experience in  Protein Chemistry, Molecular Biology, and Cell Biology.  Required research experience includes  protein biophysics, protein purification, molecular and cellular biology, specifically in the fields of MDMX2 and MDMX ubiquitylation and proteasomal turnover.  The successful candidate will be able to direct research projects and attract research funds under the supervision of the PI in the lab.  The individual will also be required to teach or mentor junior lab staff such as high school, college and graduate students and junior postdoctoral fellows, as well as providing general management in the lab.

Post-Doctoral Positions
Four  Postdoctoral Positions are available in the Department of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology at the Indiana University School of Medicine by October 2007 to study (1) the p53-MDM2-MDMX pathway and tumorigenesis, and (2) the role of SSRP1 in mitosis and cancer stem cells of the digestion system, using biophysical, biochemical, pharmacological, cellular and xenograft  approaches as well as primary human cancers. Candidates with Ph.D. and/or M.D. degrees as well as intensive training in the areas of biophysics, biochemistry, pharmacology, cell biology and/or xenograft models are encouraged to apply.
